Over the weekend we had some beautiful November weather, so we decided to take advantage of it while we still can! We took the kiddos down a wooded trail, looking for deer footprints and any kind of adventures we could find.
With nearly all of the leaves fallen from the trees now, the ground is covered with a crunchy coating of golden brown leaves and brush.
There's just something calming and peaceful about being in the middle of those tall barren trees.
Something comforting about standing quietly beside a babbling creek as the crisp evening air settles in around you.
These moments are ones I want Peanut and SuSu to see. To feel. To take in.
These are the moments when all the chaos of life suddenly melts away.
When we can be alone with our thoughts. Alone with our Creator.
Where the only distraction is the occasional rustle of the leaves when a squirrel hurries past. Or the distant sound of a woodpecker happily making his music.
These are the moments I wish we had more of. The moments that refresh us. Quiet us. Restore us. The moments when it's just the four of us, a few hundred trees, and a squirrel or two. The moments when, for a brief hour or two, all that seemed wrong in the world is suddenly alright.
