Five Weeks And Counting

Today it's officially been five weeks since our LOSC arrived! It seems longer than that, probably because we got "the call" a week before our Letter actually came to our house. Usually travel approval comes within 4-6 weeks of recieving the Letter of Confirmation, so we're oh so close now! And how are we all holding up over here? Well, honestly, pretty well, all things considered. It's very odd living in limbo like this....not knowing day-to-day when we'll be leaving for the adventure of a lifetime. But somehow, a real sense of peace has come over our family, and the anxiety that was so present a month ago has disappeared. Of course, checking a lot of things off my "to do" list has helped, too!

It's been really interesting packing for a two week journey to China, where we'll be staying in three different cities, in three very different climates! In Beijing, we expect that it will still be quite cold, and so our winter coats and mittens will be making the trip. But then, in Guangzhou, it's been in the 70s and sunny, and so, our bikinis will also be making the trip! I know all of you are dying to see us in our skimpies in the pool at the White Swan at the end of our trip, and I promise you won't be disappointed. I'll be sure to post some really good pictures of that experience.......although you have to remember that this is a PG blog!

So what's already packed and ready to go for our trip you might be wondering? Well, here's a little sample of the goodies.......

4 prescriptions of antibiotics (1 for each of us)
2 tubes of scabies treatment
4 lice treatments
1 noise machine (to drown out the snoring)
1 bottle of Tylenol PM (also to drown out the snoring)
8 small packs of tissues (since there is no toilet paper outside the hotels)
12 small gifts (for our guides and orphanage directors)
40 pairs of underwear (10 each)
40 pairs of socks (10 each)
4 bathing suits
4 winter hats, pairs of gloves and scarves
4 travel pillows (for the plane rides)

And the list goes on and on......
