Please lift up the Scruggs family at http://jayscruggs.livejournal.com/ in your prayers today. They're currently in Guangzhou, China, and are likely going to be forced to leave their beautiful daughter behind because she's tested positive for TB. A new guideline began as of July 1st, 2009, that requires that every newly adopted child have a TB test while still in China. If the child tests positive, families will not be allowed to bring their child home, although many of the children have a positive test but are not contageous! (Our Maia was tested the first week she was home, and thankfully tested negative.)
This family has reached out to the CDC to plead their case, but have not been successful to this point. All of us who have waited years and years for our little ones, who have crossed the oceans to bring them home, who have walked the journey of those early days of bonding, cannot even begin to imagine the heartache of leaving them behind in their orphanage! The thought of coming home with empty arms is almost unthinkable. And it's obviously a very real possibility now in a system that seems to be getting more and more difficult to navigate for adoptive families. So please wrap your arms around this family and pray for them today, more than ever, as time and finances are running out.
