The Door To Vietnam Closes

Today is the day the adoption treaty between the US and Vietnam expires, and it appears this door is finally closing. For us, it's a bittersweet time as we had a little glimmer of hope left that we may also be bringing home a baby girl from Vietnam after Maia's adoption was comleted. It's hard to understand why some doors opened and others closed during our adoption journey, but we know God had a very special plan for us from the beginning to be matched to our precious Maia! We're so very thankful that God opened up the door to China for us after the door to Vietnam closed, and we pray that someday adoptions between our two countries will begin again. So many children in Vietnam desperately need families and so many wonderful parents here are anxious to welcome them home! As of today, our old agency, that had given us such high hopes of bringing home a child from Vietnam, is offically encouraging all families waiting on Vietnam to switch to new programs in the hopes that they can be matched to another child. By God's grace we're also officially "letting go" of Vietnam and trusting that, if another adoption is in God's plan for us, He will surely open the doors again.

I too am very sad about this. Speicifically because all of those kiddos stuck without a family because of a noncooperative government. it is sad and can get to be overwhelming if you think about it.
