I'm finding in life that there are many seasons.
Seasons of pursuing.
Seasons of preparing.
Seasons of nesting.
Seasons of pruning.
Seasons of healing.
Seasons of seeking.
Seasons of praying.
Seasons of resting.
Seasons of waiting.
Seasons of doing.
And seasons of being.
For 30 months of our marriage, we were pursuing.
But not only pursuing.
We were preparing.
And doing.
For there were many, many things to do on our journey.
The journey to Maia.
And when our beautiful girl came home
A season of our lives ended.
And a new one began.
At first it was awkward.
Uncomfortable even.
We were so used to doing.
Pursuing.
That it was odd to be being.
It was so odd that we even though about doing again.
Just for something to do.
We laid it before Him.
"Shouldn't we be doing something?", we asked Him.
"Why?", he asked us.
"Well, we feel sort of lost just sitting here. You know. Just being here. We're so used to doing", we answered.
"Sometimes it's good to be", He replied.
"Ohhhhh," we answered.
But this is easier said than done.
Especially for me.
But being, we are.
And now that the being is sinking in, we realize how weary we were.
Because our season of pursuing was a long one.
Filled with many tears
And many heartaches.
But ultimately with tremendous joy.
It grew our faith
And opened our eyes.
But we were weary.
So very weary.
And our souls and our bodies needed resting.
More than we knew.
Finally we're beginning to see how good it really is to be.
To be quiet before Him.
To be in the moment.
And not pursuing the next.
It's a good season for us.
A wonderful season really.
Our spirits are being refreshed.
Our bodies nourished.
Our hearts filled with the goodness of His blessings.
We are being.
And it's not such a bad place to be.
