Testing, Phase 1

Tommorrow SuSu and I will go together for her first phase of testing. Thankfully, her x-rays and ultrasounds can be done at the hospital where I work, so we won't need to take a trip out of town! They'll be looking at a lot of her abdominal and pelvic anatomy, and hopefully we'll soon be able to begin piecing together some of the puzzle of what's been happening during the past four years with our little one. In some ways, I'm relieved to finally be finding the answers to all of those questions that have been dancing around in my mind for the past year. But in other ways, ignorance has been bliss! Our SuSu has been so healthy and happy and carefree that it's so easy to forget the realities of what may lie ahead.

What we hope and pray to see tommorrow is that SuSu has two healthy and perfectly shaped kidneys, healthy female pelvic anatomy and no presence of any kind of blockage in her intestine. Since there are so many variations of the internal anatomy of children born with IA, and organs can actually be completely absent, we're preparing ourselves for what could be some very difficult news. But whatever comes from the tests in the morning, we're holding on to the promise that HE will carry us through. How wonderful that all of our SuSu's secrets are already known to Him. That nothing that we see tommorrow will be a surprise to Him. That our SuSu was perfectly created in His image. And that He has a plan for her life. No matter what. No matter what.
