Vietnam Revisited

As many of you know, we were waiting for nearly 10 months for a referral of a healthy baby girl from Vietnam during 2007 and early 2008. As adoptions began deteriorating in later 2007, we made the decision to begin looking into adopting a "waiting child" from China.

After we were matched with our Maia, we were given the option to leave our paperwork in Veitnam. We knew there was very little chance that our adoption in Vietnam would ever go through, but we decided to leave our paperworkd there and also submit our paperwork to China to adopt Maia. This is something families are allowed to do, and it's actually becoming more common now as waiting times for China's adoptions have climbed to 3-4 years. To be honest, we had all but forgotten about adoption paperwork in Vietnam........until today.

Today we recieved the unexpected and unthinkable news that we might recieve a referral for a baby girl from Vietnam after all this time. Yes, it's true! Vietnam is considering allowing families like us who have already submitted their paperword to complete their adoptions. Of course, nothing is certain and we have no idea what this means for us. We're just trying to take in the reality that God may bless us with two children on this adoption journey! We know for sure that we're wholeheartedly committed to our precious Maia, and we can't possibly make any decisions to go forward with an adoption in Vietnam until our Maia is safely home in our arms. Our hearts are so full of gratitude that we've been blessed with the gift of our daughter from China, so it's just impossible to even imagine completing a second adoption this year or next. We're just placing this news in God's hands and praying for His guidance as this door to Vietnam is now opening back up to us!

"Oh, how great is your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear You, which You have prepared for those who trust in You." Psalm 31:19a
