After the holiday festivities settle down, and everyone slips back into their routines......and after the last bit of tinsel is swept up from the carpet and the gingerbread houses are finally eaten.....
Our family pauses over this weekend......takes a deep breath and remembers....
Remembers the day an unspeakable tragedy took away someone we loved beyond words.....the day that forever changed the fabric of who we are and who we would become.....the day we said goodbye too soon to our brother-in-law and dear friend.
Eight years ago on Monday it will have been eight years since my sister's first husband, Adam, drowned during a tragic hunting accident on the Chesapeake Bay. We will never know the details of his final hours as he and two other young men headed out into the icy waters to duck hunt and never returned.
What we do know is how we loved him. How we were blessed to know him. How his life touched each one of us in such a profound way.
Yes, he was far too young. And no, it will never make sense to any of us why God chose that day to be his last with us. But thankfully we know that his separation, as painful as it is, is only a temporary one. Thankfully Adam loved our God and is forever his youthful 25 in heaven. We love you and miss you Adam, more than words can say. Our time with you was so short, but our hearts and memories are still full! You were passionate about everything you did and you loved my sister and our God with all that was in you. How we praise Him for the chance to have called you our brother!

loss is never easy, when that is coupled with a tragedy we can't understand. Sorry for your loss.
