The Poconos August 2011

Last week we took a trip up to the Poconos!

It's always a time we treasure because we live in town and rarely have the chance to be in a place so quiet and peaceful.

It seems like the kids enjoy going as much or maybe even more than us, and that makes us feel really good!

I love seeing them explore the woods and find all sort of creepy crawly things that we usually won't see.

And for some reason, they actually get along better there than most anywhere else!

Even SuSu really embraced the trip this time and didn't mind getting wet and dirty and hiking through the "prickly things"!

The place we stay in is pretty remote, so my Prince Charming was in his glory, seeing so many deer up close. They followed a trail right behind the house we were in and rarely seemed spooked.

And there were plenty of trout to be caught and eaten and this always makes a man happy:)

The only arguing we heard was when it came time to divide up all the treasures......the newts, frogs, toads, salamanders:) Yes, SuSu was very sure that Peanut got one too many newts in his bucket!

But aside from counting critters, it was such a peaceful time. Always too short but always well worth the drive.

We feel refreshed now and ready now for our next adventure.......the start of the school year begins on Monday!

Of course, we may need to take a trip back up the little house in the woods once more this year.

Because my Prince Charming can't seem to forget about those deer he saw,

And those trout he savored!

And my guess is that Peanut and SuSu will be asking about coming back before long, too!

Hard to believe the summer is just about over.

But what a wonderful ending to one season and beginning of another!
